DELPHOS — Kathy Ann’s Boutique in Delphos specializes in apparel and accessories, and it can dress its customers from head to toe.
“They can come in and get an outfit from top to bottom,” said owner Kathy Ann Feathers.
The store offers women’s and juniors apparel up to plus sizes, accessories, handbags, scarves, jewelry and shoes.
Located at 249 N. Main St., Delphos, the store has expanded in its six years in the city. It started in just one side of the building, and added more merchandise and space when the demand for it came about three years ago.
“I expanded because everybody had different wants and different needs because we do serve so many different ages and styles,” she said.
The store’s motto is “an upscale shopping experience at an affordable price.”
“We have everything,” Feathers said. “What I carry, no one else carries in the whole area. That was very important to me.”
She added, “We specialize in not having our customers have the cookie-cutter look … what I have, you can’t get at the mall.”
The store offers fun and funky styles for younger women, bohemian clothing and modern apparel, with something for all ages, Feathers said.
Feathers opened the store in November 2009, after having trouble finding the clothing for which she was looking.
“I just wanted to bring a comfortable, fun and safe shopping atmosphere … hometown shopping,” she said.
The biggest reason she opened it six years ago, after retiring from her previous career, was because she was turning 50, and it was time to stop “talking about what I wanted to do, I had to do it then,” she said.
When it first opened, Kathy Ann’s was one of the first boutiques in the area, she said.
Feathers and the store’s two employees strive to offer great customer service, greeting each customer at the door and offering fashion advice, but not hovering.
“Our goal is to fit every customer with apparel that is flattering to their figure and appropriate for their age,” Feathers said. “We’ll take you out of your comfort zone and give something different a try, nine out of 10 times, they love it.
“We try to make it fun.”
The boutique is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
